about

This is an early 4 track demo circa 1984, song by Amy Rigby
Eric and I have spent the last two months transcribing tapes I recorded back when I was figuring out how to do this, to go along with my memoir Girl To City. This track didn't make it onto the album, titled A One Way Ticket To My Life, which is clearly going to have to be the first in a series because we needed to stop at 19 tracks!
Mastered from cassette by Eric Goulden

lyrics

I shouldn't tell you cause it might sound funny to you
But I can trust you, think of all the things we've been through
A couple years ago we met, I was never the same
You don't recall, the only thing that you said was your name
Wanted to know you so much
I didn't cause a big fuss
I waited long enough and that's a fact
It was four years ago this evening to be exact

The party started hopping I was jumping right out of my skin
All that I wanted was to be in the room you were in
I had the feeling it was gonna be a matter of time
Still can't believe it when you say you're so glad that you're mine
You didn't notice me then
You had so many girlfriends
Wished I was one of them but I didn't act
It was four years ago this evening to be exact

A year or two went by and then I met you in a different place
I don't remember how or why, but I remember your face
At the party and the bright colored shirt that you wore
The way I felt when you put on your coat and walked out the door
Wanted to know you so much
i didn't cause a big fuss
I waited long enough and that's a fact
It was four years ago this evening to be exact
